6 Ways to Change Your Outlook on Fear

Published March 28, 2018

“Fear is the Silent Destroyer of Dreams.” – Gary Haugen

All great leadership initiatives (big and small) begin with a dream in the heart of a leader. We sense the voice of God and a vision for what can be. And a dream takes shape in our imaginations.

We might see ourselves starting a new business, serving a child in need, standing up against corruption, writing a book, or entering into a new relationship.

And then it starts to rise, the questions, the doubts, the insecurities. And behind it all is… fear.

Recently, we explored the challenge of fear on our GLS platforms. Take a look at the resources below to gain a new perspective on fear.

3) Article: Using Fear as a Catalyst for GreatnessKen Burkey

One of the most frequent commands God gives in Scripture is, “Do not be afraid.” Why? Because fear is inevitable, and it can be paralyzing and suffocating. Fear prevents us from tackling the tasks we were created to accomplish. When fear rules leaders, it affects their businesses, employees and communities.

4) Article: Fearless Leadership Hannah Gronowski

If you’ve been in a room full of co-workers engaged in a team-building exercise, you’ve heard the question, “What would you do if you could not fail?” It’s a question that has been asked so frequently, it has lost its poignancy. So, let me ask the question in another way… If fear were obsolete, what dreams would you take action on?

5) Article: Fear-Less Leadership Jossy Chacko

Fear is a natural human emotion, created by God, that protects us from doing foolish things. Like any emotion, it’s critical that we hold fear in the right balance within our leadership. As leaders we should neither be full of fear nor completely without fear. We need to be fear-less leaders.
