What is the strategic role of the Senior Pastor/CEO/Summit Point Leader related to the Summit?
Past experience verifies that Summit sites are most successful when the Senior Pastor/CEO/Summit Point Leader believes in and communicates the life-changing potential of on-going leadership development. We can’t over stress the pivotal role the Senior Pastor/CEO/Summit Point Leader plays as an advocate for the Summit, both in your own organization and in the community. Also, as our partner in raising the value of leadership development in your area, your Senior Pastor/CEO/Summit Point Leader is invited to take part in special gatherings with senior GLN leaders and staff throughout the year.
-
What commitment is essential from your team to succeed as a Partner Host Site?
In addition to the Senior Pastor/Summit Point Leader, Host Sites will need a Summit Team of staff leaders and/or volunteers to help promote, manage, and facilitate the overall Summit experience. Four essential leadership roles have been identified: Promotional Strategist, Event Manager, Technical Director, and Producer. Role descriptions are provided for each team leader. If these roles are assigned to staff members, it’s important to help prioritize and recognize their additional workload, especially in the months leading up to the Summit.
-
What support does the GLN provide?
Each of your Summit Team leaders will be working with the appropriate GLN staff leader for training and ongoing communication as needed to achieve their accountabilities. Your team will have access to a wealth of helpful information through Summit Central—a website dedicated to providing important up-to-date information, timelines, orders, database, and promotional tools.
-
What other responsibilities will you have?
GLN leaders will come alongside your Event Manager with recommendations and support on building a complete volunteer team, outlining the various roles that need to be filled. The volunteers who will serve your registered guests play one of the most important roles in creating a successful Summit site experience.
-
When is the marketing season for the Summit?
Kick-off for promoting the Summit begins in late February. We strongly encourage Partner Host Sites to begin communicating with area churches and within their own congregations as early as March—before people lock down their summer plans.
-
Where do the majority of people come from to attend your site?
The advantage of hosting the Summit allows your church/organization to go deep within your constituents because of price and convenience. As a general rule the majority of people attending would come from your own organization. Typically, other Summit guests will come from within a 20-mile radius of your site—this would include area churches, para-church ministries, seminaries/schools, and businesses. We strongly encourage you to make sure your guests represent a broad spectrum of ethnic backgrounds, denominations, and socioeconomic status.
-
In what ways can other area churches/organizations help you promote your Summit site?
The GLN encourages you to take advantage of our “Summit Partner Program,” which encourages you to recruit up to five organizations and area churches of different denominations (to increase the diversity of networks and contacts) so that together you can reach as many people as possible with this convenient and affordable leadership development opportunity. Summit Partners will receive a registration discount for their members to share and participate in the vision of the Summit with you. The goal is to make the Summit a community-wide leadership development effort.
